All indoor public programming, including in Nolan Park and Colonels Row will be postponed until at least August 31, 2020. One crucial difference: the ferry requires tickets ($3) bought online in advance. Looking ahead, the Island will be activated year-round with expanded educational, commercial and non-profit uses. Visitors are required to wear face coverings on the ferry and the Island, and must reserve tickets in advance here.
Visitors must reserve tickets in advance through a new ticket reservation system. Capacity on Governors Island ferries will be limited during the 2020 season to allow for social distancing. There will be no Governors Island ferries at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 in 2020. Unlike anywhere else in New York, Governors Island offers peaceful settings with sweeping views of the Harbor, Lower Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty.
