It does an excellent job of stimulating thought through pithy storytelling, without ever resorting to contrived vagueness. Most importantly, Jason Clarke is simply not 'pretty' enough to play Heydrich. The earlier released Anthropoid was a far superior adaptation (or was, at least, a better depiction of the events of Heydrich's assassination). Critical reception. The plot is based on the WWII operation to assassinate the Reich's third in command, Reinhard Heydrich. Anthropoid is one of those rare thrillers that actually educates viewers. Anthropoid had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on 1 July 2016 as the opening night film.

Film Title Poem review – scratched, dancing, scrunched-up celluloid 3 out of 5 stars. On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, Anthropoid has an approval rating of 66% based on 102 reviews, with an average rating of 6.39/10. Other reviewers here have done a nice job detailing the problems this film has as a 'film' so I will only mention two more. The well-executed — but perhaps too slick — “Anthropoid” is here to remind us that action-thriller movies can still be brainy, thrilling and true.
