Cam Ranh Air Force Base is located on Cam Ranh Bay in Khánh Hòa Province, Vietnam. What began as a small US military assistance program to South Vietnam, grew into a wider regional conflict. During the Vietnam War, it was a major base with United States Army, United States Air Force, and United States Marine Corps units stationed there.

At its peak in 1969 more airmen were serving in Thailand than were serving in South Vietnam.
