Effective March 16, 2020 the Division of Vital Records will be closed to walk-in customers in an effort to prevent exposures to COVID-19. Vital records most commonly refer to records such as birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and divorce decrees, wills and the like. The Washington State Department of Health Vital Records in-person service will be closed until further notice. NOTICE TO ALL USERS Effective March 19, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. all customer counter services along with in-person research appointments at the State Office of Vital Records are suspended until further notice. It was not mandatory, however, that these records be filed until 1917. The Office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Curbside service is available from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
