On The Joke When I started reading Milan Kundera's The Joke I found it hard to put the book down. I immediately liked what the novel is talking about (which is rare, as far as I am concerned). I spent most of my life living in three countries: Czechoslovakia, Czech Republic and Slovakia. I thought I could make things nicer with some jokes. Just look at what they have done incarcerating "disliked groups" like Blacks or the millions killed in Mideast wars.
